The Unimog, a highly versatile off-road vehicle produced by Mercedes-Benz, is a staple of the German military. Affectionately known as the "Two-tonner" by soldiers, the Unimog's robust design and excellent off-road capabilities make it ideal for a variety of military tasks.
Since the late 1970s, the German Armed Forces have used tens of thousands of Unimogs in various roles, from transporting personnel and equipment to serving as command vehicles. Its durability and adaptability have made it a mainstay in all branches of the German military.
Serving my time at the Bundeswehr in the late 1980s, one of my stars was to drive such a vehicle, containing componentes of a communication masts. Often, a single axle trailer was attached to it.
The 404-865 was part of the Fernmelderegiment 6./11 which does not exit anymre today.
This is a 1/72 scale kit of a Unimog 2t GL by ACE. The model was build OOB, but equipped with an optional, 3D printed container das it is used for communication units for example.
The model was paited with Revell Aqua.
