The Rattanakosindra class gunboats were a pair of Thai warships built in the 1920s. Despite being classified as gunboats, they had a unique monitor-style design with a low freeboard and armored turrets. Initially designed with four 152mm guns, the armament was reduced to two single guns. The ships were heavily armored for their size and powered by oil-fired Yarrow boilers.
Both ships served during the Franco-Thai War and World War II but did not see combat. Sukhothai was briefly involved in the Manhattan Rebellion of 1951. After decades of service, both ships were retired and their bow garuda figures are now on display at the Royal Thai Navy Museum.
The HTMS Ratanakosindra in 1/700, printed in "Smooth Fine Detail Plastic" as they call it.
This ship was a small gunboat with 2 x 6" guns and a length of just over 50 meters. But I like the look of this little thing.
The 3D print was enhanced with several parts of the spare part box, plus the usual PE stuff. Painted in Revell Aqua Colour.
