Viking ships were versatile, slender boats used by Scandinavians for trade, warfare, exploration, and colonization. They were designed for speed and shallow waters, allowing them to navigate rivers, coasts, and open seas. These ships were typically built with overlapping planks and often adorned with decorative elements. While there were different types for specific purposes, they all shared a common characteristic of being flexible and efficient.
Ragnar Lodbrok is a legendary Viking king from Norse mythology and sagas. Known for his daring raids on the British Isles and the Carolingian Empire, he is a prominent figure in Viking history. While his historical accuracy is debated, his tales of bravery and leadership have made him an iconic symbol of Viking culture. And of course, he is known form the TV show "Vikings"
After watching the TV show "Vikings" I wanted to make a Viking ship.
On ebay, I got a set of 3 small Heller models, among them a 1/180 scale Viking boat. With just 19 parts - so this was not too complicated....
The problem was - where could I find a Viking crew in 1/180 scale? So in the end, I found some Preiser figures for N-gauge trains (1/160 scale), a set of "Industrial Workers".
Which could be pimped as Vikings - and one of them as Ragnar Lodbrok.
