The battleship Yamato was the largest battleship ever built and was sunk in April 1945. At least that is what the history books tell us.
But this one has a special twist, and to understand it, you need to know a little German. In German, the word "Karte" means either "map" or "ticket.
One day my girlfriend mentioned that she would like to have some tickets for "Yamato" (the Japanese drummers) for her birthday. Now, if you tell someone who is interested in naval history something about "Yamato" and "map," they will not think about tickets for Japanese drummers, but of the Japanese battleship.
So I made an envelope with a map printed on it showing the sinking position of the Yamato. And I made this little model of the Yamato and put the Godzilla on it. Anything that has to do with Japan has to have something to do with Godzilla, of course. I put the envelope under the display case and wrapped it all up as a birthday present. Oh, and of course I put some Yamato tickets in the envelope.
On her birthday, she unwrapped it and her first reaction was "Oh no, this is wrong!" and I wondered "But you wanted a Yamato card! In the end, she found the tickets and the little Yamato model now sits in our living room.
And by the way, the Yamato drummer's performance was really good!
This is a 1/2000 scale Revell Miniship model build OOB and painted with Revell Aqua.
The Godzilla figure is from ebay, the little showcase is also from there.
