Perry Rhodan and the Mystery of the Missing Medo-Disks

Year: 2435

A tense atmosphere hung heavy on the bridge of the STARDUST. Perry Rhodan, his weathered face etched with concern, scanned the holographic report hovering in front of him. "Three Medo-Disks from the 3rd Fleet missing," he muttered, his voice low. "No distress signals, no trace on scanners. Just...gone."

Beside him, Atlan, the imposing Arkonide with his silver hair, nodded grimly. "The last reported position was near the disputed territory bordering the Vegan Dominion. A known pirate haven."

The Medo-Disks, those nimble little vessels derived from Rebanian designs, were a crucial part of the Solar Fleet's medical corps. They ferried the wounded between battlefields and hospitals, their speed and maneuverability vital to saving lives. Three vanishing in such a sensitive region was more than a cause for concern, it was a potential disaster.

"Any leads, Atlan?" Perry asked, his blue eyes sharp.

"The Vegan Dominion denies involvement, naturally," Atlan replied with a sardonic smile. "But their denial holds the reek of freshly cut spaceweed."

Perry leaned back in his command chair. "We need to find those Medo-Disks, and fast. Every minute lost could be the difference between life and death for countless soldiers."

On Icin, Planet of the Rebanians

Across the vast expanse of space, on the lush world of Icin, a sense of unease gripped the Rebanian capital city of Urssa Major. Throk, a stout Reban with fur the color of burnished amber, paced in his workshop, frustration gnawing at him. A renowned mechanic specializing in Medo-Disks, Throk had received a disturbing message from a colleague in the Solar Fleet.

"Three missing Medo-Disks? This is unthinkable!" Throk muttered, his voice a low rumble. He had spent decades meticulously studying Terran technology, particularly the adaptations made for the Medo-Disks. They were sturdy little ships, but even the best machine could be compromised.

A sudden whirring sound filled the workshop. His workbench displayed a holographic message from Perry Rhodan himself. The Terran legend, requesting his assistance? Throk felt a surge of excitement mixed with apprehension.

A Race Against Time

Perry and Atlan, accompanied by Throk, arrived at the last reported location of the missing Medo-Disks. Sensors picked up faint traces of anomalous energy signatures. They had stumbled upon a cloaking field – a technology not readily available within the Vegan Dominion.

"Looks like someone wants to stay hidden," Atlan observed, his hand hovering over the energy weapon mounted on his arm.

Throk, however, focused on something else. "There's a residual hum in these energy readings," he rumbled. "A specific pattern...rebanian in origin!"

The realization struck them all with the force of a meteor. These weren't pirates. The stolen Medo-Disks were being controlled by someone with access to Rebanian technology. The question was who, and why?

Following the trail of the cloaking field signature, Perry and his team found themselves on a derelict space station orbiting a gas giant. Inside, a tense standoff unfolded. They found the stolen Medo-Disks, their cockpits filled with unconscious Rebanians. Their captors? A rogue faction within the Rebanian government, obsessed with exploiting the Medo-Disk's advanced medical technology for their own nefarious purposes.

A thrilling battle ensued. Throk, with surprising agility for his stature, used his knowledge of Medo-Disks' inner workings to disrupt the rogue faction's control. Perry and Atlan, a whirlwind of tactical brilliance and raw power, neutralized the remaining guards.

The Aftermath

With the stolen Medo-Disks recovered and the rogue faction apprehended, a sense of relief washed over the team. The rescued crew members were transported back to the Solar Fleet, their ordeal finally at an end.

Throk, hailed as a hero, decided to remain with the Solar Fleet for a time, offering his expertise in maintaining the Medo-Disks. Perry, ever the diplomat, contacted the legitimate Rebanian government, ensuring the swift capture of the rogue faction and the restoration of trust between the two civilizations.

As the STARDUST jumped back into hyperspace, Perry leaned against the viewport, a satisfied smile playing on his lips. Once again, teamwork and ingenuity had triumphed over deceit. The Medo-Disks continued to serve as invaluable tools for the Solar Fleet, a testament to the enduring collaboration between Terrans and the fascinating, bear-like people

As part of the technological support of newly discovered worlds, DPMSP (Developing Planets Military Support Program) was initiated in 2120. Under this program, the Solar Fleet is committed to purchasing ships designed and built on these worlds to support the development of the spaceship industry and technology on these worlds.
Most of the time this is done in small quantities, and the ships that are taken into the service of the fleet are only used for secondary tasks. Thus, many of these mostly smaller ships can be found in various tasks on Terran colonies.

But there are also exceptions, like the Medo-Disk, which is based on the Reban space yacht design of the Pac-Se class.

The Rebans live on the planet Icin, 1426 light years away from Earth. In 2127, Icin was discovered by an explorer ship from Earth. The Rebans, which resemble upright walking bears (the size of an adult Reban can vary from 20-160cm) were about to take their first steps into interstellar space. But through contact with Earth, the Rebans' technical development took a steep upswing, so that only 15 years after first contact they were able to build their first spaceship that could travel faster than the speed of light.

Because of the Rebans' fascination with everything about Earth, the first designs of Reban spaceships had unmistakable (visual) references to Terran designs.

The space yachts of the Pac-Se class quickly became an insider tip on the private yacht market and the Medo-Disk derived from it for the transport of wounded quickly enjoyed great popularity in the Solar Fleet. So, it happened that between 2268 and 2420 several thousand of these small transporters were built and became a constant companion on large fleet units.

The model is in scale 1:250 (12 cm diameter) and printed with an Anycubic Mega in PLA. Painted with Revell Aqua Color, the decals are from the spare part box.
