The Watcher of the Stars

Anya stood on the observation platform, her heart pounding in her chest. She'd been waiting for this moment for years. The colossal spacecraft, Uku-qina, shimmered under the soft glow of the twin moons, a beacon of hope for her people. As the countdown reached its final seconds, a hush fell over the gathered crowd.

Anya watched as the ship's engines ignited, a brilliant burst of light that momentarily blinded her. The massive vessel began to ascend, slowly at first, then with increasing speed. The crowd erupted in cheers and applause. Anya's eyes were fixed on Uku-qina, her mind racing with thoughts of the distant Päft system and the possibilities it held.

As the ship disappeared into the starlit sky, Anya felt a surge of pride and a pang of loneliness. Her people had taken a giant leap into the unknown, and she was left behind to watch. But she knew that her role was just as important. She would be the one to monitor Uku-qina's progress, to ensure that the mission was a success.

Anya turned to her fellow watchers, their faces reflecting the same mix of awe and excitement. She smiled and raised her hand in a silent salute. As the last glimmer of Uku-qina faded from view, Anya knew that she would never forget this day. She was witnessing the birth of a new era for her people, an era of exploration and discovery.

Soon after their departure into space, the Rebans discovered an apparently habitable planet in the Päft system 1.2 light-years away. Since the distance could not be bridged with the available technical means, the further investigation was carried out with telescopes placed in orbit in the Icin. (For a better understanding earth standard time is used here).

After years of work, a first functional ion propulsion system was completed in 2085, which allowed speeds of up to 10% of the speed of light. Based on this technology, the Uku-qina - which means "stardust" - was built, a very large spacecraft for Rebans.

With a total length of almost 200 meters, the probe was divided into several parts: In the tail, the engine, reactor and radiators for the reactor heat. In the middle section the large reactor tanks. The ship's AI was housed in the bow section, which was designed to serve as a space station in case the Rebans were to follow the probe at some point.
The probe was equipped with a total of eight planetary explorers who were then to land on the different planets of the Päft system.
In 2101 the probe was sent off into the Päft system. Acceleration and braking maneuvers lasted about 2 years each, so the total flight duration was assumed to be about 15 years.
Shortly after take-off, however, it was discovered that the probe's radio signals were received weaker than expected, so the reception capacity in the Icin system had to be significantly increased.

In 2116 the probe arrived at the Päft system and in the following year the first data and recordings could be received. These confirmed the assumption that the third planet of the Päft system was habitable for Rebans. Four years later, this finding led to the construction of the Uur-Lja, the first manned interplanetary ship of the Rebaners, whose technology was based on that of the Uku-qina.
Even after contact with the Terrans in 2127, the probe continued to send data into the Icin system, but the technological quantum leap triggered by the contact created previously unknown possibilities for the Rebaners and the probe's data lost relevance.

The model of the probe is created in Tinkercad and the individual parts are printed with a 1:3000 scale SLA printer. The model was painted with Revell Aqua Color
