The FFVS J 22, a Swedish-built fighter aircraft, served the Royal Swedish Air Force during World War II. Designed for quick production and ease of use, it entered service in 1943. Though both prototypes crashed before their first missions, production continued, resulting in nearly 200 J 22s.

The J 22 boasted a steel-framed fuselage covered in plywood and a single powerful engine, a copy of the Pratt & Whitney R-1830. Pilots appreciated its agility, particularly at lower altitudes. Armament varied depending on the variant, with some sporting a mix of 7.9mm and 13.2mm machine guns, while others packed four 13.2mm cannons for heavier firepower.

Despite its strengths, the J 22 had limitations. Newer, more advanced aircraft like the P-51 Mustang held the upper hand at higher altitudes. The J 22's reign ended in 1952 when the Swedish Air Force retired it. Today, only a handful of these historic fighters remain, serving as reminders of Sweden's wartime ingenuity.

Marivox FFVS J22B

A quite unknown fighter aircraft of WW2, the Swedish FFVS J22A. First flown in in 1942, it was used by the Swedish Air Force until the early 1950s.

I saw one of those in the Swedish Air Force museum in Linköping, where my GF bought me this little kit. by Marivox. Never heart of this one, but it was quite good to build.

The model shows a J22B in March 1944.
