The USS Nautilus was the world's first nuclear-powered submarine, launched in 1954. Unlike diesel-powered subs, it could stay underwater much longer, breaking records and reaching new depths. This groundbreaking technology came with design flaws that helped improve future submarines. Decommissioned in 1980, the Nautilus is now a museum ship, a testament to human ingenuity and a reminder of the early days of nuclear power at sea.
This 1/305 scale model of the USS Nautilus was very simple and easy build as this kit is part of the old Revell "Missile Fleet" set.
The kit has of course a little missile on it. A JB-2, the American more-or-less copy of the German V1. Which of course was not used on the Nautilus, but tested on other subs like the USS Cusk.
The model is painted with Revell Aqua Color and build OOB.
