HMS Hood was a British battlecruiser that, despite its size and reputation, suffered a catastrophic end during the Second World War. Built during the First World War, Hood was the largest warship in the world for decades.
Throughout its service, Hood participated in various naval operations, including training exercises, fleet reviews, and combat missions. However, its most notable moment was also its final one. In 1941, during the Battle of the Denmark Strait, Hood was sunk by the German battleship Bismarck, resulting in the loss of nearly all its crew.
The exact circumstances of Hood's sinking remain a subject of debate among historians. While official investigations concluded that a magazine explosion caused the ship to break apart, some theories suggest alternative explanations, such as a torpedo detonation or a gun turret explosion. The discovery of Hood's wreck in 2001 provided further evidence supporting the official conclusion, but the precise cause of the magazine explosion may never be definitively determined.
HMS Hood in 1/700 scale, build OOB from the Tamiya model, just added some PE railings and crew. The command tower was a bit tricky to build, it did not fit so good as I had expected.
