USS King was a guided missile destroyer that served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1994. Named after Fleet Admiral Ernest Joseph King, the ship was instrumental in maintaining stability in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.

Its primary roles included screening aircraft carriers, participating in air-sea rescue operations, and protecting US ships from enemy threats. The ship's crew demonstrated exceptional bravery, rescuing numerous downed pilots, including one from deep within North Vietnam. The USS King was decommissioned and scrapped in 1995.

The kit is a 1/500 scale Renval model, painted with Revell Aqua color and added a bit Tamiya rust on it.

I wanted to build this one OOB to recreate the look of a model kit in the 1960s. Therefore, no crew members on board this time. And I have not found some in 1:500 scale anyway.
