USS Indianapolis (CA-35) was a Portland-class heavy cruiser of the US Navy, named after Indianapolis, Indiana. Launched in 1931, it served as the flagship for Scouting Force 1 for eight years and later for Admiral Raymond Spruance during World War II. In July 1945, the ship delivered components for the first nuclear weapon to Tinian Naval Base. On 30 July, it was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and sank in 12 minutes. Of the 1,195 crewmen, approximately 300 went down with the ship, and the remaining 890 faced severe conditions and shark attacks. Only 316 survived. The sinking marked the greatest loss of life from a single ship in US Navy history. The wreckage was found in 2017, and the crew received a Congressional Gold Medal in 2018.

Matchbox USS Indianapolis

This is a 1/700 scale Matchbox kit, and compared with the Matchbox Z38, this one was better to build.

The ship was equipped with Eduard PE railings and crew members. antennas are made with EZ-Line (which worked better than last time, but the result still could be better). The model was airbrushed/painted with Revell Aqua Color.
