USS Hornet CV-8
The USS Hornet was a Yorktown-class aircraft carrier that served in the US Navy during World War II. It participated in several key battles in the Pacific Theater, including the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, the Battle of Midway, and the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands. The Hornet was sunk in October 1942 after being severely damaged by Japanese torpedoes and dive bombers.
