HMS Devonshire was the first County-class destroyer, built for the Royal Navy. Launched in 1960, she was the first ship to fire the Seaslug missile. The destroyer operated in the Mediterranean, Bermuda, and the United States, later engaging in patrol duties in the Persian Gulf and Caribbean. Despite being involved in a collision in 1966, she saw no active combat. Decommissioned in 1978, she was eventually sunk as a target in 1984.
