The D186 Mölders was a guided-missile destroyer built for the West German Navy in the 1960s. It was based on the American Charles F. Adams class and had an overall length of 134.4 meters, a beam of 14.4 meters, and a draft of 4.5 meters. The destroyer was powered by two steam turbines that produced 70,000 shaft horsepower, allowing it to reach a speed of 36 knots. It had a range of 4,500 nautical miles at a speed of 20 knots.
Mölders was armed with two 5-inch guns, an eight-round ASROC launcher, two triple sets of 324-millimeter torpedo tubes, and a Tartar surface-to-air missile system. It was commissioned into the West German Navy in 1969 and served for 33 years. After its decommissioning in 2003, Mölders was preserved as a museum ship at the Deutsches Marinemuseum in Wilhelmshaven.
